Face Care Routine

"To me beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin, it's about knowing and accepting who you are" - Ellen DeGeneres

In my opinion, having a clean face does not mean having a perfect spot, no flaw face. It means having a hygienic, dirt free face. Keeping my skin 'clean' is something I take pride, I hate feeling dirty so I take time in making sure my face feels as clean as I can possibly make it. However this does not mean I go out and spend a large sum of money on face care products. Obviously with me being a teenager, I simply do not have the money to spend on face products so I make do with what I can find. Here is what I use and my Tips and Tricks for keeping your face clean

Waitrose Pure Face Cream -

As we are now in Autumn heading into Winter I was in serious need for a more 'heavy duty' moisturizer. I suffer with dry skin normally but with Autumn and Winter this just gets worse. The cream is quite thick but does not feel heavy or greasy on my face which is something that really makes me love this moisturizer even more. My only issue with it is the fact i have long nails and it tends to get underneath them and feels quite gross. I tend to apply this straight after my shower/ before I go to bed and before I put my makeup on in the morning.

Unscented Hand Wash-

I tend to use this after I have taken my makeup off just as a extra check so I'm not left with any makeup on my face that the makeup remover may have failed to take off. I prefer to use unscented washes as occasionally the scented ones can cause me to break out or itch.

Waitrose Pure Eye Makeup Remover + Simple Cleansing Lotion-

These are the products I use to take off my makeup. The waitrose eye remover works really well when taking my eyeliner off. I tend to use Gel eyeliner in the Autumn/Winter time and any other eye makeup remover ends up clumping the gel in my eyelashes. I enjoy using the Simple products mainly because I find them quite light and don't make me feel greasy on the skin.

Waitrose Pure Beauty Balm-

While writing this I realised the majority of what I use is From Waitrose and thats simply because the products are cheap and work well. The beauty balm can be used on dry patches, lips and elbows. I tend to just stick using this on my lips to prevent them getting dry and cracking. Crack lips are a no-go.

Witch Hazel-

This will probably sound strange, It did to me when I first heard it however it works suprisingly well. I used this twice a month by putting a small amount on a cotton pad and wiping on my face in an upwards motion. I heard this from Alexa Poletti's skin care video (video here) I suggest watching her video for a more in depth reason on why it's used.

Oral-B 3D White Toothpaste-

In my opinion, you can't have a clean face unless you have clean teeth. When you smile or talk, the main focus of someone is probably going to be on your teeth, if you don't have clean teeth or decent smelling breath the person's probably not going to want to talk to you for long. Having clean teeth completes a look all together and when I say Clean teeth I don't mean sparkling white teeth, I mean brushed twice a day, no food stuck in them and no foul smelling breath. I love the oral-B toothpaste because it tastes great and leaves my teeth feeling clean and nice.

Clean your pillow cases regularly-

Your pillow cases are one of the places your face will be making contact with a lot considering the fact you sleep on them bare. By cleaning your pillow cases regularly you are removing the dirt and bacteria off them preventing a large amount of germs spreading to your face. I wash my cases at least once a week. As well as this cleaning them regularly helps you get a better night sleep.

Keeping your hands clean-

Your hands are one of the most 'germ filled' parts of you which is understandable considering you use them the most. Keep your hands clean by washing the regularly to prevent germ spread.

I hope this can help some people in a way.
